Third African Christian Scholars’ Conference  

  The Third African Christian Scholars’ Conference, hosted by the Society of C​hristian Scholars Uganda, is a continental gathering of Christian academics from across Africa, scheduled to take place from 28th to 30th August 2025 at M​akerere University School of Public Health, Kampala, Uganda.  

 


Conference Objectives

i.   To unpack the concept of Christian Scholarship in the African context

ii.  To raise the visibility of Christian Scholarship in and from Africa

iii. To explore the potential of Christian scholarship to contribute to National Transformation agendas.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

You are invited to submit an abstract and/or register to participate in the above conference to be held in Kampala, Uganda. The goal of the third Christian Scholars’ Conference, organized by the Society of Christian Scholars Uganda is to bring together Christian scholars from the full range of academic disciplines in Africa, to discuss the link between Christian scholarship and Africa’s transformation and to make proposals for action. The conference will immediately be followed by a five-day, Program 500 Retreat. Program 500 seeks to raise and equip 500 Christian Scholars in Africa in the next five years.

 

Since the launch of SCS-Africa, it has held two annual conferences, one in the Gambia and the second in Kenya in 2023 under the theme, “Faith and Scholarship in the 21st Century. This year, the third conference will be held at Makerere’s School of Public Health in Kampala, Uganda.

 

Call for Abstracts

We invite you to submit your abstract under one of the following sub-themes for presentation:

  1. Christian Scholarship in the African Context
    (Governance, Human Rights, Economics, Technology, Arts and Culture, etc.)
  2. Christian Scholarship in the Education Sector in Africa
    (Curriculum, Human Resource, Governance, Research and Innovation/Technology, etc.)
  3. Christian Scholarship in the Transformation of the Spheres of Society
  4. Christian Scholarship for a Flourishing World
  5. Christian Scholarship in the Fight Against Corruption
    (Financial Literacy, Integrity, Accountability, Transparency, etc.)
  6. Christian Scholarship in the Promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
    (Human Resource, Gender, Innovation, Intellectual Property Rights, etc.)
  7. Christian Scholarship and Emerging Technological Opportunities and Challenges
    (Digitization, Artificial Intelligence, Ethical Issues, Disparities, Inclusion/Exclusion, etc.)
  8. Christian Scholarship in the Law

N.B. You may submit an abstract on other sub-themes within the broad conference theme.


Abstract Submission guidelines

Abstracts should:

  1. Be written in English.
  2. Be a maximum of 250 words, with no sections.
  3. Indicate the title of abstract and sub-thematic area.
  4. Author Information: Include the full name(s), title(s) (e.g., Dr., Prof.), institutional affiliation, email address, and phone contact for all authors.
  5. Indicate the problem, method, and anticipated impact (at the minimum).
  6. Be submitted in MS Word format, 12 Point, single spaced, Times New Roman.

N.B. Please supply, in a the same document, a brief bio (150 words maximum)and a passport-size (electronic) photograph with your abstract
